About Our Organization:
Laya Bhava Dance Academy serves to enhance and advance the cultural fabric of Ontario and Canada through the production, education and performance of and about arts, particularly dance and music styles originating from Northern Region of Sri Lanka. The organization’s vision is to promote a high standard of music and dance, as well as nurture future generations of dance and music students and artists in Ontario. The organization promotes the Arts by achieving the following objectives:
1) to educate and increase the public’s understanding and appreciation of the Arts by providing performances of an artistic nature in public places, senior citizens homes, churches, community centres and educational institutions and by arranging and delivering educational seminars on topics relating to such artist performances.
2) to provide instructional seminars on topics relating to the performing and visual arts.
3) To produce performing arts festivals for the purposes of illustrating, educating and advancing the public’s understanding and appreciation of performing arts.
4) To ensure the continuation of the Arts by educating and developing artists through training and participation in performances, festivals, and related workshops

Our Last Collaboration Event: Bhakthi Pravaham April 20th 2018

Four Tamil Dance Academy's joined forces to present Bhakthi-Pravaham at Thamil Isai Kalaamanram. We presented Bhakti Pravaham - the flow of devotion. A kalakshetra style repertoire of bharatanatyam featuring Smt. Induvadana Balan Malli and toronto dancers. Smt. Induvadana is the daughter and disciple of late Sri Adyar K. Lakshman. The performance took place at Thamil Isai Kalaamanram ( Unit#3, 1120 Tapscott Road, Scarborough, ON, M1X 1E8). The show began at 7pm. Admission is $10 and seating will be based on a first come, first served basis. This event included a 10 day workshop with master Artist Malli which culminated in a presentation by the workshop participants.

Senior Bharatanatyam Artist Ramya Harishankar will be performing at Samarpanam 2014 this year. I would like to invite all of you; this is a FREE show and is open to the public.
RAMYA HARISHANKAR brings to Bharata Natyam all these qualities enhanced by vigorous training under the best gurus: the late Swamimalai K. Rajaratnam who followed the traditional Vazhavoor style and was renowned for his musical and choreography skills and Kalanidhi Narayanan, one of the finest exponents and teachers of the art of Abhinaya, the art of expressing emotions. With over two decades of training, Harishankar combines the elegance, grace and suppleness of the Vazhavoor School with the distinctive ability to express all shades of emotion with sensitivity and intuition.
There is will also be a workshop on Saturday October 11th 2014 evening.
